Hiking
During the summer months we will be offering a guided hike to one of the following trails for all those who are interested. If you would like additional information on any of the hiking trails below please feel free to ask us when you are here or email us ahead of time.
Voyageur Trail
The Voyageur Trail is part of the Trans Canada Trail and runs from Spanish to Sault Ste. Marie with accessable portions reaching as far as Nipigon. This trail is one of the most scenic and rugged trail systems in Ontario and offers a unique wilderness experience for the day hiker or backpacker.
For those avid hikers or for those who are looking for a nice scenic adventure we can tell you how to find the trail and even provide you with a guidebook. The trail system cross highway 129 and runs both east and west from Thessalon.
Dam Lake Trail
This trail leaves right from Wakomata and is a 8km looped trail around Dam Lake. Once used as a logging road this trail is nice and wide and suitable for just about everyone. At a leisurely pace this trail can be hiked in 2 to 2 and a half hours and is fun for the whole family.
Limberlost Trail
A system of hiking trails that will lead you through a variety of forest flora with a variety of ecosystems experience while hiking this trail. You will walk amongst old growth hemlock, through mixed hardwood and in stands of red and white pine. You will see a variety of wild plants and mosses and if you look closely you may see some of the creatures that live here.
Starting right at Limberlost Lodge you can follow the well marked trails and learn about the things you will see from the interpretative signage. Pack a lunch and follow the trail to Harten Lake and you may be rewarded with the sight of a moose.
