The Owners
Warren Townsend
Warren was born in Fergus , Ontario and attended local schools until he decided it was time to head for the big city. He applied to Ryerson, Toronto, Ontario, was accepted and entered into 1st year business school . After one year Warren had enough of school and worked in Toronto for a while and then applied to the RCMP.

After basic training in Ottawa his first posting was Port Alberni, British Columbia. The west was great - good fishing for salmon and steelhead, hunting for deer and mountain lions - but after a couple of years applied to go to the Arctic. He worked in Whitehorse, Old Crow and Watson Lake in the Yukon Territory. While in Old Crow, Warren had the opportunity to participate in the Last Dog Team Patrol in the RCMP. He and Special Constable Peter Benjamin traveled by dog team from Old Crow to Fort McPherson and Arctic Red River in the Northwest Territories . The trip was almost a month long providing a good basis in winter camping and outdoor survival. Warren still loves to fish and moose hunts every fall with the same group that he has hunted with for over 30 years.

After the RCMP Warren attended Wilfred Laurier University graduating with an honors degree from the School of Business. Since that time he has been self employed in the trucking industry, farming, property management and tourism businesses.

Hobbies, besides the outdoors, are woodwork and woodcarving. For several years Warren participated in bird carving competitions in the U.S.A and Canada, judged at many shows and taught carving lessons to many people. He hopes some of the winter days will provide time to do many of the birds that are either ideas or 'not quite finished'. Some of Warrens work are on display at the Royal Ontario Museum and have been sold to the Andrews Wildlife Gallery in the USA and through the Burdette Wildlife Gallery in Ontario.

His interest in Wakomata is to provide people with a relaxing, peaceful environment so that they can return to their regular life refreshed and rejuvenated. He also has a special interest in winter camping and hopes to have a winter camp set up for those that might like to give it a try.

Mike Townsend
After spending several years working and living in the Toronto area Mike decided to escape the hustle of the big city and so when the opportunity arose he took it. A graduate of the Eco-Adventure Tourism Management program in Haliburton Mike brings a diversity of skills to the resort industry.
